A MOTHER’S DAY IN PARADISE
OK – welcome to my most WONDERFUL MOTHER’S DAY EVER. I had the most wonderful, perfect day ever. I was truly happy and serene for the first time in a long time. It started with us getting to sleep in late. As you all know – we arrived at Castaway Cay at about 8:15. We left the ship at 11.
We disembarked and had our pictures taken by the ship’s photog for only the 2nd time since we have sailed since 1998! Well, for those of you that don’t know, I am sponsoring 2 soldiers. A female Army enlisted and a Marine Cpt. I have a picture of the Marine Cpt’s company so they along for the ride. I got the photog to take their picture which I will send to them later. Just a token to let them know they are not forgotten.
Well , after a false start, we had to return to get my polarizer for my lense and my large lens. We then made it over to Cookie’s BBQ which was alright. I am truly trying to behave myself and ate only till I was comfortably full. Then after we headed to Serenity Bay to check it out. For those in the know, I have not been there since last May Repo. I moved from the section I wished to avoid and I was ok after about 1 hr. Steve ended up wanting to stay as he wanted some color to his pale skin – white men – what can I say! Well, he definitely has color now! He went from invisible to Sebastian red! ROTFL. Not too hard since I am also a bit tender and pink – but as I said earlier – I should be well done in a few days. So by the time we land in Cabo where I have scheduled us for a kayaking session, I should be ready for round two.
Well, after laying in the water for a couple of hours, I finally stole a hammock. Seems most people cleared out of Serenity Bay at about 2 or 2:30. I finally got to lay down and underneath an umbrella. So, then we headed out to hike but Steve was all torn up and instead headed to the ship. I refresh by taking a shower and getting ready for diner. We managed to switch to 8:15 dinner seating and this has turned out much better for me. I was a bit apprehensive at first as this was the 2nd night but as the saying goes – THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON.
Turns out we were paired with a family – a MEXICAN family traveling with 6 in their party. We were denied Collin which was frustrating as we had been told he would not be full but that’s ok – we switched to Putu who is going by Agous now. He has a new beverage asst who is Phil, Dr Phil for short, he’s a green-wet-behind-the-ears newbie. That’s ok , we will be breaking him in shorty! ROTFL
Seems I’ve been adopted by this family. They are Mom - Maria, matriarch traveling with Patricia, oldest unmarried DD, youngest DD whom is married to Raphael and is traveling with their2 kids, David and Angelica. So, it took all of a matter of 2 minutes to figure out I spoke Spanish and from that point on, conversation proceeded in Spanish with a few “English, please.” (Good-naturedly of course J ) from Dr. Phil. Anyway, this family has a great sense of humor. Seems Mom’s 2nd birthday was last night instead of December 25th. ROTFLMAO! It was hilarious. - even more so when they tried to converse with Steve. I explained to mom and group that Steve is a bit quiet but if we made enough noise, eventually he’ll crawl out of his shell. By the end of the evening, we all came to the conclusion that we’ll stick the men at the end of the table so that they won’t rain on our parade. LOL J Seriously though, they were all a blast and I can foresee the rest of this cruise as being non-stop hilarity. On the way out of Animator’s Palette, “mom” and I got to laughing so hard, we both almost pee’d our pants. And when DH asked if they were this happy the first night, seems somehow, I DON’T KNOW HOW, but I got blamed for the frivolity at the table – AS IF!!!!!! I just went with the flow and just getting started as it turned out.
We got out in time to catch the cabaret show in Diversons – as Rocking Bar D was totally full. Entertainer was John Charles who basically entertained us by doing a guitar solo act of comedy. He covered all artists from Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Celene Dion, Carrie Underwood to Sister Hazel! He was actually really entertaining and I would love to see him again. I haven’t laughed so hard in ages. That show was at 10:30 but I forgot to mention the Prime show – The Ricky Kelmon Show. He’s as you all know by now, a hypnotist and his show was awesome! I still don’t know whether to believe if those people actually went under or if they were acting, but it definitely made for a better show. He’s great and DO NOT MISS HIM if you get an opportunity to catch him. I don’t want to give too much away but keep in mind, I REALLY do not laugh too much – out loud, I smile a lot but it takes a lot to make me laugh out loud, I did so much last night – I think my laugher is broken. That show last about 45 minutes and we were out by 7:05. Show started at 6:15. Tomorrow, Monday, 5-12, Ricky Kalmon will be doing an adult show at 11 pm. Can’t miss that one. I anticipate another full bar. John Charles will be doing a family show on Monday also at 7:30. Too tame after last night.
Ok, so as we’re filing out of Diversions, I run into the Shots Around the Ship gang. DH had to find Collin Clark and then we went back. It was a bit scary to introduce ourselves to people we hadn’t meet yet but what the heck – I forced myself onto them. Turns out I ended up having another blast. I jumped full blast into it by ordering A Don Julio Anego shot of tequila. I was “told” that I should have it in a snifter which I did. DH tried it and decided he’d have one too. We were then informed that they would be closing the bar in 15 minutes and we’d have to move then. So, we took our “snifter” and went and introduced ourselves again. Then when the 15 minutes were up, we went to Rocking Bar D. As we went in – ½ of the group was already there. I told a fellow Thiever that we would get the party started. She readily agreed and we proceeded to find a table. The band was playing their last tunes and we pretty much had the pub to ourselves. After, DJ Mike came on and we watched as one DIS-ser was dancing. All of a sudden, the light came on – why not dance? She was the only one out there, granted a bit intoxicated but after all - - these people didn’t know me – why not just jump in? So I did, when the next song came on that I liked – I ran to the dance floor – by myself and just jumped in. That of course started a whole slew of folks – (OK – only 4 more) LOL but at least there was a small crowd now. Many songs were played but the only one I remember that I couldn’t resist was “FOOTLOOSE”. I LOVE THAT SONG! I remember when it first came out and not having the guts to go out there and dance. Keep in mind folks that I can’t dance. I can start to move then I freeze up, I don’t really freak, don’t really twist, don’t really dance but I sure was that night. When I came back to the table, Steve was looking at me like I was some kind of alien who took over his wife’s body. LOL. I was substantially fortified and continued to dance from “Low” by Flo Rida, U2, Queen, to line dancing. Never mind that I’ve never line danced. I just got in there! Lots of fun songs were played and I danced to them all. Later in our cabin – Steve said that he’s never seen me so happy. He says that he could tell I was having a good time. How sad that was to me in a way but it didn’t hamper my mood. Made me realize that I should take a bit of time to myself and enjoy it more often. You see, growing up, I had to be the parent always. I always tried to portray myself proper in front of the kids. I never drank in front of them due to my family history with alcoholism. I didn’t want the kids thinking it was ok to have a drink. Hence, I always tried to be good and therefore wound up with a reputation of being a stick in the mud. HOWEVER, as we all know, we are traveling without kids and therefore - the rules DON’T HOLD! YIPPEE!
DH the rat, texted DD – Megan telling her that I was drunk, which is why I posted that I was not drunk – I was loose (helped with a little creativity from fellow DIS poster there – sorry I’ll insert name later! ) Bless my DD’s heart – her answer? If she’s finally out there dancing and having fun – that’s all that matters! Then she texted me to continue to have a good time. LOL – backfired on him there. What a relief, for if he’d texted Andrew, he’d of been mortified that I was acting like a teenager. OMG! Some of the escapades that were pulled on the dance floor – cannot post here – but in looking back, I’m sure that I will remember the full moons on that night! ROTFL! Not to mention the bumping and grinding going on. OH YEAH! We even got to party with Chris and his partner – don’t know her name right now but give me time. They are the deaf interpreters on the ship and I was amazed at him when he was signing – The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Amazing! Again to which we all danced around him and acted the song out! J
Well, unfortunately, the night had to end and DJ Mike left us to our own accord. Another fellow DIS-ser was on babysitting duty, seeing as several husbands had gifted their lovely wives with the present of enjoying the night out while they watched the kids, for Mother’s Day. So, as DH and I were not totally wasted, we walked home a fellow DIS-ser while they took another one home. It wasn’t all that bad as she was on our floor. I meet some really wonderful people and hope to have another opportunity to meet up with them on the 19th for “Shots Around the Ship II”. . Hopefully by that time I can come up with some ingenious drink. I prefer tequila but it’s just because I haven’t meet the right rum! Any suggestions anyone? BTW, this group has everyone from a CEO, to an engineer, to a surrogate mother to me – the soldier photo-bearing, crazy lady who’s sailing the summer away. Turns out, I seem to have been talked about and have been nicknamed the Crazy Cruiser. I not crazy – I just appear that way. LOL.
Oh yeah, I have shots of the PC material, from t-shirts to zippies to hoodies to caps. They have a really nice WHITE one. A nice DARK BLUE one and the cap is NAVY BLUE. Will post those later as the resolution will take up too much time to post. If someone can take them, once I post them on the blog, and post them on the Pirate Zone, I would be most humbly pleased. For some reason, they seem to load up much faster in my blog report than in photobucket. They have changed something which makes it harder for me to upload more than one photo at a time.
OK folks, I’ve gone onto another page so I must be closing this out. I will say that we finally got to bed around 3:40 and DH woke up for a bit in the morning trying to look at stocks but system was a bit slow. What did he expect? Today was our first sea day and us diehard posters had to hog up the lines. I finally got up at 12:30 and we got out of our stateroom at 1:40 just in time to make it to Parrot Cay which had American Buffett. BTW, if anyone is interested – the ship is carrying Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Ginger Ale, cranberry juice and apple, tomato and or course water. But no Caffeine-Free Diet Anything. They still have Sweet-N-Low but also Splenda, and the Blue one forgot that one’s name.
Oh yeah, upon our getting to Serenity Bay – we were greated by the wonderful sight of some large fish – Steve seems to think it was a barracuda. I managed to snap a picture of it – wonder if I can post it – you can see the shape of it – but I didn’t want to get too close to it.
BTW, I’ve run into Chicken Boy a couple of times and I’ve been so tempted to call him that but thought I’d better let sleeping dogs lie. NOT! I’m just biding my time. Too bad HE wasn’t the one selected for hypnotizing. Would have added more fuel to the fire. LOL. Also, took pictures of the gym if anyone is interested. Can post those later. If anyone has any questions, let me know – best bet would be to post a comment on the blog as I may not get to the DIS. If its as slow as it was today, I’ll be on my next internet package by Thurs. At least with the blog I can type it up beforehand and then check the comments.
My intentions are to type something every night and go from there. OK folks, its not 5:25 on formal night – Monday, May 12 and I have got to close this up so that I can get ready for The Golden Mickeys which is on tonight. Some old faces in the entertaining crew are Natalie and Trent. Haven’t caught up with others but will post at a later date. OK, this coffee smell is killing me – smells so good in here – the Quiet Cove Café that I am dying, kicking myself for quitting caffeine. Why oh why, did I? Tomorrow is another sea day and another formal so we shall see how I look otherwise I may end up having to use a pantsuit if I don’t tone down my color.
OK – gotta go – talk to you all later – in the immortal words of Chris Brown – KISS, KISS! Love ya!
